Describe a project or analysis where you prepared financial statements that were in conformity to accounting standards.
The interviewer wants to identify your level of competency for tasks deeply connected to the accounting profession and this type of question does just that. They're looking to open up a discussion that will give them an idea of your overall exposure to financial statement preparation and may even want to know more about your understanding of the managerial aspects of financial statements. They may also be gauging your overall level of interest in what you do. So expect to go into some discussion of the importance of the task, why it's a necessary part of the job and why you're committed to performing it as best you can. When answering questions it's a good idea to end the question with a response that will help to turn the interview into more of a conversation. Ask if you answered their question adequately or if they'd like to hear more information. Give them more than just the basics.
